The African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT) and the German Embassy held a joint roundtable on the threat of terrorism and violent extremism.

The roundtable was co-chaired by the Acting Director of the ACSRT, Mr. Idriss Mounir Lallali, and Dr. Jasper Wieck, Head of the Political Department at the German Federal Ministry of Defence.
ACSRT experts delivered presentations on the evolving threats of violent extremism and terrorism in Africa, particularly in the Sahel region, and on the measures taken by the African Union to address them.
The roundtable agreed to broaden the discussion and ensure that the capacities of African Union Member States (AUMS) are strengthened to confront these threats. This includes enhancing regional cooperation, intelligence sharing, specialized training, and integrating the respect for human rights and international humanitarian law into security responses.beque.
