The African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) held a joint roundtable on international humanitarian law: preventing and combating terrorism in Africa. The roundtable was co-chaired by the Head of Training and Equipment at ACSRT, Colonel Christian Emmanuel MOUAYA POUYI, and the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation, Ms. Valérie AUBERT.
Key experts from ACSRT and ICRC delivered presentations on various emerging threats of concern to international security, including terrorism threats in Africa. Furthermore, during the roundtable, discussions focused on the applicability of international humanitarian law in the fight against terrorism and on ways to ensure the protection of persons affected by armed conflicts and terrorist acts, while respecting international legal obligations.
