16 May 2019, Algiers. H.E Larry GBEVLO-LARTEY Esq, AU Special Representative for Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Director of the ACSRT paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, H.E Li Lianhe. The two dignitaries discussed the issues of cooperation and enhancing the Counter-Terrorism capabilities of AU Member States.

The reported period, 1st to 15th April experienced a slight decline in the number of attacks from terrorist and violent extremist groups across the length and breadth of Africa. The areas most affected by terrorism and violent extremism for the period include the Sahel Region, Lake Chad Basin Area, the East and Horn of Africa, the North Africa as well as the Central Africa Region.

The African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT) in its bi-weekly “Africa Terrorism Bulletin” has recorded 82 terrorist attacks across Africa between the periods of 16th-31st March 2019.

ANNUAL MANDATORY ETHICS TRAINING

Training on AU Ethics

18 April 2019, Algiers, Algeria. The African Union Ethics Office conducted an annual Mandatory Ethics training for the staff of the African Union offices in Algeria. The training was held at the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT).
