20 August 2019: In honour of the legacy of Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela, the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT) visited a neighbourhood orphanage, Foyer d’acceuil pour orphelins d’El Mohammadia.

The visit was a follow up on the 18th July commemoration of the International Nelson Mandela Day organised in conjunction with the Mohammadia neighbourhood of Algiers. An 8-member ACSRT delegation spent 70 minutes with orphans and children with disabilities in line with the Mandela Day UN recommendation to perform 67 minutes of public/ community service.

During the visit, ACSRT staff donated stationery, clothes, food items and disinfectants to the orphanage. The head of the Orphanage Mrs Kherrachi Karima thanked the ACSRT for the gesture and commended the Centre for its identification with the community of Mohammadia.
