A high level delegation from Spain paid a courtesy call to the ACSRT

18 june 2019, Algiers, Algeria: A high level delegation from the Spanish Ministry of Interior, Led by Mr. Juan Manuel Calleja Menéndez, Interior Counsel of the Embassy of Spain in Algeria and Antonia Mena Lopez, International Police Cooperation Director from the Spanish State Secretariat for Security,

paid a courtesy call to the AU Special Representative for CT Cooperation/ Director of ACSRT, H.E Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq.

The ACSRT Director briefed the delegation about the African Union Counter Terrorism framework and the crucial role of the ACSRT in helping the AU Member States to strengthen their CT capacity building. He highlighted some recent activities, current projects, its priorities and challenges of the ACSRT.

The Director expressed his heartfelt gratitude for all the support the ACSRT receives from the Spanish government and expressed hope that the collaboration between the government of Spain and ACSRT in the field of CT/PVE continues.

The two parties discussed the issues of cooperation and response generation to the threats of the ethnic terrorism which is raising in Africa and the adequate answer to end it.

The delegation was conducted through a tour of the Centre’s premises including the Conference facilities and Library. They were also given a brief presentation of the Centre’s Situation Room.
