Training on AU Ethics

18 April 2019, Algiers, Algeria. The African Union Ethics Office conducted an annual Mandatory Ethics training for the staff of the African Union offices in Algeria. The training was held at the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT).

Participants were drawn from the African Energy Commission (AFREC), African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) and ACSRT. The African Union chief of ethics, Mr. Alimamy Sesay, delivered the training.

The training covered AU ethics, code of conduct and rules against harassment. The need for knowledge, skills, competence and capabilities was emphasised as crucial for efficiency and effectiveness. The participants were urged to be guided by the AU values of transparency, accountability, impartiality, efficiency and professionalism.

At the end of the training, participants were each issued with a certificate. Each participant made a solemn affirmation to observe the AU ethics, rules and regulations.
