The Korean Ambassador to Algeria Pays Farewell Visit to ACSRT Staff

On 23 April 2018, Outgoing Ambassador of South Korea H.E. Park Sang-jin, paid a farewell visit to H.E. Larry Gbevlo Larety Esq. the AU Special Representative for Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Director of ACSRT, at the end of his over-three-year diplomatic mission in Algeria.

The ACSRT Director thanked Ambassador Park Sang-jin for his relentless role in strengthening relations between the Centre and corresponding South Korean institutions. He was particularly grateful to the Ambassador for his facilitation for the South Korean government assistance to the Centre and his personal donation of a server to the Centre.

The Director wished the departing Ambassador well in his new position, and said he assured that he would continue to contribute to strengthening bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation between South Korean government and the African Union in general and between the South Korean CT institutions and the ACSRT in particular for P/CVE in the African continent.

H.E Ambassador Sang-jin in his remarks stressed that Terrorism is a global threat and the ACSRT has a significant role to play in the global effort to prevent/counter violent extremism. He emphasised that enhancing exchange of expertise between South Korean institutions and the ACSRT has a great potential for strengthening mutual beneficial cooperation specially to promote P/CVE efforts.

The Ambassador also inspected the site of the proposed construction of new facilities for the ACSRT for which the government of South Korea has provided seed money.
