Italian Ambassador pays Courtesy Visit to ACSRT

Sunday November 19th,2017:The AU Special Representative for Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Director of the African Center for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT), Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq. received His Excellency Ambassador Pasquale Ferrara, the Ambassador of Italy to Algeria, at the ACSRT Offices.

The two dignitaries discussed possible areas of cooperation between the ACSRT and Italy to support Counter-Terrorism and Counter Violent Extremism efforts through capacity building and a human security response approach.

The Director took advantage of the visit to congratulate the Ambassador on the decision of the OPCW-The Hague Award Committee to honor the International Master Courses in Protection Against CBRNe Events at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, as a co-recipient of the OPCW-The Hague Award with the ACSRT of the reputable OPCW-The Hague Award.

Ambassador Ferrara reiterated Italy’s support to the AU Counter Terrorism-Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Efforts. He emphasized the importance of a human security approach to address the root causes of Terrorism and Violent Extremism within a whole-society framework.
