ACSRT received the Chinese Embassy Delegation on Courtesy Visit

Algiers, Algeria – 6 September 2016: The delegation of the Embassy of The Peoples’ Republic of China in Algeria paid a working visit to The African Centre for Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT). The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. LI Jianghua, Director of Political Affairs Section of the Embassy who represented the Chinese Ambassador met with Mr. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission on Counter Terrorism Cooperation and Director of ACSRT to discuss the various areas of cooperation between ACSRT and the Chinese Embassy in Algeria and how the Embassy can support the Centre.

Mr. LI Jianghua in his remarks during the deliberations stressed that Terrorism is a global threat and that the ACSRT has a big role to play in the global effort to prevent and combat Terrorism. He appreciated the fact that this entails the requirement of cooperation with similar institutions across the globe such as the Centre for Counter-Terrorism Studies, Beijing – China. Mr. LI Jianghua also indicated that as a show of support to the Center and its effort of counter-terrorism, the Chinese Embassy would make a donation towards the Centre to improve the work conditions.
On his part, Mr. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey thanked the Chinese Ambassador for their continued support to ACSRT and highlighted on the need to focus on the realization of the goal of making the ACSRT Africa’s Centre of Excellence for Study and Research on Terrorism. Mr. Gbevlo-Lartey also reiterated the importance of strengthening cooperation between the ACSRT and the Chinese partners in areas of staff exchange and mutual research.
Both dignitaries recognized the importance of the China-African Union partnership and the need to ensure that matters of Prevention and Combating of terrorism continue to receive priority consideration.
